Online Worship

Dear Wimberley Christian Church family,

With increasing number of COVID-19 cases, we are faced with questions. How would God have us respond to this growing alarm? Should our churches close their doors for fear of spreading illness? Should I stock pile toilet paper, food and money?

Listen to our position at WCC —– Our responsibility to this pandemic outbreak is to comply with government authority, to help and NOT contribute to this pandemonium problem. At WCC, we want to care for our congregation in all areas —– physically and spiritually.

As of this Sunday, March 23rd, we are changing our approach to church life. The position is “Change” not “Cancel.” The church is not something you can cancel. Please hear this —- we are not cancelling church but we are changing.

Starting this Sunday, our services will be online only. You will be able to worship and hear a brief message of hope and faith. The message will be an encouraging word concerning this pandemic outbreak of fear. God is not panicked and neither should we panic. Why don’t you share our website with your family, friends and Facebook friends to watch the video sermon? Our hope is to gather together soon. In the meantime, we believe we can continue to grow, learn and use this for God’s glory. Romans 8:28

Again, we are not cancelling church we are just changing church life. This is not a season of rest, withdrawal or pause. We believe it is a great opportunity to pray, seek the Lord and share hope.

So how can we do that?
Here is our plan of attack as of March 20th…….

Sunday Worship/Teaching Services

Gather your family, call your friends, text your Wimbo peeps, and message your Facebook pals and encourage them to turn the TV off and watch the message.

Deer Creek Outreach

We have contacted the administration at Deer Creek of Wimberley Senior Care. The staff is under a tremendous amount of stress and isolation because of the COVID-19 quarantine. After much conversation with administration, they have agreed to our plan of outreach. On Wednesday of each week, we will provide Chick-fil-A lunch for all staff members! This will be one way we can safely reach out to our community. The staff at Deer Creek are excited and already encouraged by this gesture of kindness.

Inreach

We are in contact with all of our church shut-ins. We are committed to their needs. What can each of us do? This would be a great time for each of us to check on one another, pray for one another, offer

assistance or just say “hi.” If you do not have the church directory on your phone or computer, call the office and we will help you. Make an effort to keep our church family close.

Finally, we will get through this. Position yourself to trust the Lord with all your heart and strength. Use this time to “draw near to Him (God) and He will draw near to you.”
See you on Sunday….Online!!!! WimberleyChristianChurch.com/sermons

Tithe & Offering Special Note

I am sure we are all praying together for restoration for all of us locally, our country, our president, and others throughout the world who are being affected by COVID-19. My personal prayer is that God will take what Satan meant for harm and turn it into a blessing. As Council chair, I would like to address WCC finances. Please receive this communication in the spirit in which it is intended, and know that we operate in transparency not fear. Simply put, our contributions were down somewhat in January and February. We must continue to provide for our staff and missions, but also give beyond as an outreach to others in need at this unprecedented time.

In an effort to facilitate contributions while unable to meet as a congregation, we have installed a lockbox by the side entry door going into the Fellowship hall. You can stop by the church at any time to drop in your contributions. We will continue to deposit and record contributions in the same manner as we have in the past.

Feel free to contact me personally with any questions or concerns. Thank you for your continued generosity.

Mary Starr
