This is the third in our sermon series on Biblical Heroes. We first discussed Gideon who was an ordinary man doing ordinary things until God selected him to become a man who was uncommonly great. He defeated Israel’s enemies and brought the return of prosperity to his nation. He accomplished the extraordinary with God and for God. Caleb, the second man in our series, was a hero because he finished strong even at the advanced age of 85 years old. His devotion and faith in God never wavered, and as a strong elderly man, he reclaimed land that had been overtaken by the Anakites that once had belonged to his people. These men of God had something in common. They were tested and challenged, but their reliance upon God enabled them to become victorious despite facing overwhelming odds.
