Christmas From God’s View: Ta-Da!!!!

A Tag – Team Sermon

Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

Isaiah 7:14

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:6-7

 God’s view point:

1). The baby has four different names (reputation, mark) each telling us what He will do.

2). All of these names belong only to God.

Isaiah 9:6 “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given”

 Write this down. . .

The Son wasn’t born. . .the Son eternally existed. The Child was born. . . . the Son was given.

“and the government shall be upon his shoulder,”

 Don’t miss God’s view. . . . .

 Vision problem:

Most of us have been inoculated by our manger scene of a weak, helpless, pale infant in a manger so much that we are often immune to the heavenly vision that the baby is Emmanuel-God with us!

 Redeemer and Ruler

 King of kings

 Lord of lords

And EVERYTHING is held together on his shoulders.

1). Jesus speaks to us as “Wonderful Counselor”

– literally says. . . . ” A wonder of counsel”

18 And the angel of the LORD said to him, “Why do you ask my name, seeing it is wonderful?”

.Judges 13:18

14 therefore, behold, I will again do wonderful things with this people, with wonder upon wonder; and the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the discernment of their discerning men shall be hidden.”

Isaiah 29:14

 Keep this in mind. . . .

Christ is not a “wonderful counselor” who simply makes good suggestions or thoughtful recommendations for your consideration!

Nope! When you come to Christ you must give up your right to self-determination and follow His counsel alone.

Everlasting Father, Mighty God

Mighty God

gibbōr). adj. strong, mighty; n. masc. warrior, mighty( !ִ#$ר man. Refers to men of exemplary or exceptional strength, courage, or military prowess.
Champion He did for us what we cannot do: believe the Father perfectly. How many of you can walk on water? Do believe God perfectly without doubting?

Jesus could and did.
Romans 3:10–12 “as it is written: “None is righteous, no, not one; no one understands; no one seeks for God. All have turned aside; together they have become worthless; no one does good, not even one.””
Romans 3:19–20 “Now we know that whatever the law says it speaks to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be stopped, and the whole world may be held accountable to God. For by works of the law no human being will be justified in his sight, since through the law comes knowledge of sin.”
Romans 3:21–22 “But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and

the Prophets bear witness to it— the righteousness of God through the faith of Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction:”

Everlasting Father.
Jesus is “Everlasting Father.” Isaiah is not saying that Jesus is God the Father. He is talking about Jesus, in relation to Adam, our first father. Adam is the father of us all, but he sinned, and his sin brought death to all humanity. Jesus is the father of a new kind of humanity. He obeyed God perfectly and His obedience brings eternal life to all those who believe in Him. “For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive” (1 Corinthians 15:21-22).
1 Corinthians 15:45–49 “Thus it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being”; the last Adam became a life- giving spirit. But it is not the spiritual that is first but the natural, and then the spiritual. The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven. As was the man of dust, so also are those who are of the dust, and as is the man of heaven, so also are those who are of heaven. Just as we have borne the image of the man of dust, we shall also bear the image of the man of heaven.” Romans 8:29 “For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.”

Jesus satisfies within us a “Prince of Peace”

God gives lasting, fulfilling, complete peace.

 1. Peace with God- vertical

 2. Peace of God- internal

 3. Peace with others- horizontal

“The zeal of the Lord of hosts will do this”

The gift of Christ is a personal gift from God Himself.

And a gift requires a response.
