How Do You Know You Are A Christian?
1 John 5:13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, in order that you may know that you have eternal life.
1. _Acknowledge__ your lost condition.
Romans 3:23For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 6:23For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Isaiah 53:6All of us like sheep have gone astray. Each of us has turned to his own way; but the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him.
2. __Believe__ the Gospel.
Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
John 3:36 “He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him.”
3. __Repent__ of your sins.
Luke 13:3 “I tell you, no, but, unless you repent, you will all likewise perish.
Isaiah 55:7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; and let him return to the Lord, and He will have compassion on him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.
4. _Receive__ Jesus Christ as your Savior.
John 1:10-13 He was in the world, and the world was made through him, yet the world did not know him.(11) He came to his own, and his own people did not receive him.(12) But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God,(13) who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.
5. __Confess__ Jesus as your Lord.
Romans 10:9-10 That if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved;(10) for with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation.
