or –
Role models affect or influence everyone. . . .

-Looking at others
Others looking at you.
Who was your role model?
21 For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.
I Peter 2:21 ESV
“For us” – Our gain.
“leaving you an example” – Our pattern
“so that you might follow in His steps” – Our power to imitate.
1). Christ put God the Father first in His life.
30 “I can do nothing on my own. As I hear, I judge, and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me.
John 5:30
God is not your back up plan!!
1. Why should you put God first?

Because God put you first.
2. How do you put God first?
33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.
Matthew 6:33
6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Proverbs 3:6

2). Christ was completely _genuine_.
27 Woe yo you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people’s bones and all uncleanness.
Matthew 23:27
3). Christ has total _humility_ in spite of who He was.
16 And behold, a man came up to him, saying, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?”
17 And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. If you would enter life, keep the commandments.”
Matthew 19:16-17
The model of humility:
1. Humility is necessary to execute the purpose of God.
2. Humility produces an example to follow.
4). Christ was bold and _uncompromising_.
21 And they went into Capernaum, and immediately on the Sabbath he entered the synagogue and was teaching.
22 And they were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one who had authority, and not as the scribes.
Mark 1:21-22
5). Christ always sought to _please_ His Father.
29 And he who sent me is with me. He has not left me alone, for I always do the things that are pleasing to him.”
John 8:29
6). Christ was concerned about _productivity_.
2 2 Every branch in me that does not bear fruit he takes away, and every branch that does bear fruit he prunes, that it may bear more fruit.
8 By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.
John 15:2, 8
