Can God Be Trusted — with Patience?
Today’s question:
Can you feel a calm endurance when you experience frustration?
What is patience?
• Self-restraint- does NOT hastily _retaliate_ against wrong.
• Ability to accept delays- does NOT become anxious/irritable.
• Ability to “stay in your lane”- does NOT easily react to _circumstances_ unfavorably.
Favorite Definition:
Patience is the calm endurance founded on the belief that God is in charge and can be trusted.
Three New Testament Greek words expressing patience.
1. Anecho- “up” and “hold”
Idea: to bear with something/someone; sustain.
2. Hupomone- “under” and “abide”
Idea:: to bear a heavy load; support.
3. Makrothumi- “slow” and “anger”
Idea: to bear under major stress or anger; calmness.

Where does patience come from?
-Galatians 5:24–25
Why is patience so difficult, such a pain, to have in our daily lives?
• It goes against our human nature (works of the flesh.)
-Galatians 5:17
• It is contrary to our _today’s culture_.
We have convinced ourselves that impatience is the _virtue_.
Since patience comes from God, how can you grow and develop it?
• True patience comes by allowing the Spirit of God to control me.
