God Becomes A Baby
Simple and Profound: Immanuel
Matt. 1:23 “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).
Is. 7:14 Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.
Is. 9:6 For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be on his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Jesus has always been God’s Son. The manger is when God becomes a baby in our history.
Col. 1:15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
Hebrews 1:3 He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature, and he upholds the universe by the word of his power. After making purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
V.14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
V.18 No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known.
Jesus is fully man and fully God.
Immanuel – “God with us” Offensive and Glorious.
Colossians 1:16-17 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities – all things were created through him and for him. (17)And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
All the names of God are in Jesus’ name Immanuel, God with us.
- Elohim – “Creator/Mighty & Strong” (Gen.17:7; Jer. 31:33)
