The Challenge; What Does God Want From Me?
“For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His…” II Chronicles 16:9a
#1 How did Jesus pursue you?
Philippians 2:7
#2 That’s how we must pursue Jesus…we empty our self.
- Lay aside our self (living sacrifice).
- Maintain all of our privileges and rights are in Christ alone.
- Walk in humility.
#3 What motivates us to pursue? What is our “holy ambition?”
“Upward call”
- To be more Christlike
- Finish well
- Heaven
#4 What does God want from me?
Oh great, another sermon about not doing enough. Another guilt trip about not being enough?” Make pokes at my lack of accountability. I bet he wants something at the church!”
#5 Question:
1) Does God create in us a desire to seek Him? To find purpose? A holy ambition?
2) Does God want you to discover His plan, the race you are to run and finish well?
Who sustain that passion/fire in your heart?
#6 “For the eyes of the Lord…”
#7 “For the eyes of the Lord move to and fro…”
Why?
#8 ….that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His….”
God wants a heart that completely belongs to Him.
So, what does that mean .
Lordship – Christ reigning as supreme authority over you life. It’s not passive or a state of being it’s a state of doing .
Romans 12:1–2
#9 “The only thing Christianity can NOT do is become moderately important.
C.S. Lewis
#10 “If God has your pure, undivided heart, Jesus is Lord.” P.F.
So, what does that?
Discipline – Delayed gratification. A willingness to do the difficult now , to get gratification later.
2 Timothy 4:6–8
What does God want from me?
A heart that is completely surrendered to Christ’s lordship and willingness to trust and obey.
A heart that belongs to God is the life that God will strengthen and support to it’s fullest completion.
Hebrews 12:1–3
