Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.
Psalm 2:8 NIV
God asks..
“What do you want?”
Three possible options to this question:
1. I want more (Than what I’ve got).
Why do you think you always want more than what you already have?
Maybe we are convinced that we would be more , if we had more.
Then someone called from the crowd, “Teacher, please tell my brother to divide our father’s estate with me.”Jesus replied, “Friend, who made me a judge over you to decide such things as that?” Then he said, “Beware! Guard against every kind of greed. Life is not measured by how much you own.”
Luke 12:13-15 NLT
Why do you think God is so anti-greed?
Doesn’t He want us to have stuff?
Greed never sees things as a gift from God.
Rather, greed sees things as a substitute for God.
How can we stop from being so spoiled/greedy?
Stop making lists of the things you want and start making lists of the things you have to be grateful for.
Another reason God is so anti-greed:
The insatiable desire for more causes us to go after more which eventually cause us to neglect what we have been given.
Do not wear yourself out to get rich; do not trust your own cleverness. Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.
Proverbs 23:4-5 NIV
2. I want to do more (with what I already got).
Do not despise these small beginnings, for the LORD rejoices to see the work begin, to see the plumb line in Zerubbabel’s hand.”
Zachariah 4:10 NLV
Do you think God thinks you are spoiled?
“The epitome of being spoiled is despising/not agreeable to something God was delighted to give you.”
Spiritually spoiled:
Disregarding something “little”, it will never become more than what it is!
“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities.
Luke 16:10 NLT
Remember this: God is the master of disguising big opportunities by wrapping them in little responsibilities.
What do you want from God?I want to do more with what I already have.
Best answer…
3. I want You more (Period).
Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
John 15:4 NKJV
“Abide” Stay with Me
How do you know you want God more?
1). You are finding Him more.
If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me. I will be found by you, ” says the LORD. “I will end your captivity and restore your fortunes. I will gather you out of the nations where I sent you and will bring you home again to your own land.”
Jeremiah 29:13-14 NLT
QUESTION:
When you are chasing God, are you wanting Him to say to you when you catch him…..
“Here I am”
or
“Here you go”
How do you know you want God more?
2). You know the difference between love and “religiously committed”.
As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you, O God.
Psalm 42:1 ESV
O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
Psalm 63:1 ESV
How lovely is your dwelling place, O LORD of hosts! My soul longs, yes, faints, for the courts of the LORD; my heart and flesh sing for joy to the living God.
Psalm 84:1-2 ESV
