After Thanksgiving Still Give Thanks
A fulfilled life is a choice- choosing to have a contented, thankful, joyful heart.
_Attitude_ is far more important than circumstances.
Proverbs 15:15
All bad events that happens to the righteous are for four main reasons:
- The glory of God.
- The perfection of faith.
- The chastening of sins.
- The consequences of foolishness.
Therefore, those in Christ only have _good events_ in their lives. . . .
- Paul took pleasure in afflictions (II Corinthians 12:9-10)
- James said count hardships with all joy. (James 1:2-4)
- Paul said rejoice always (Philippians 4:4, I Thessalonians 5:16)
- Hebrew Christians rejoiced in losing their possessions (Hebrews 10:34)
Here’s the truth:
The believer who has a thankful merry heart is not over taken by life’s afflictions.
- Saltines and spinach are a two-course _feast_.
(Proverbs 17:1, 15:17)
- Earth afflictions are nothing to eternity. (II Corinthians 4:17-18)
- Who cares what’s on the table if Jesus is having supper wit you. (Revelation 3:20)
- Even when all seems lost- rejoice and dance.
Habakkuk 3:17–19
What is the secret?
Attitudes of the heart turns to _actions_ belief.
Psalm 100
“A Psalm for Thanksgiving.
Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth. Serve the LORD with jubilation;
Come before Him with rejoicing. Know that the LORD Himself is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving,
And His courtyards with praise.
Give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the LORD is good;
His mercy is everlasting
And His faithfulness is to all generations.”
1. _Shouting_ (V1)
2. _Serving_ (V2a)
3. _Seeking_ (V2b)
4. _Knowing_ (V3)
5. _Entering_ (V4a)
6. _Sacrificing_ (V4b)
Why choose to have a joyful, thankful heart attitude?
Give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the LORD is good;
His mercy is everlasting
And His faithfulness is to all generations.”
