Can I be fixed even when I am broken?
Psalm 34:18
Psalm 147:3
Today’s question:
•Can I find purpose when I am broken and running from God?
Brokenness is God’s biblical pattern and pathway to blessings and breakthroughs.
Believer’s brokenness is God’s divine and often mysterious method or tool of dealing with our self-life desire to act independently from God.
The Biblical principle of brokenness is to remove every obstacle that hinders our complete surrender and trust in God alone. . . . Divine appointments .
Can you find purpose when you are broken and running from God?
Jonah 1:1–4
Inside:
•The moment you run from God you face your limitations, your selfish agendas and real heart issues.
• Jonah’s exposed heart:
1. Self- centerdness
2. Lack of compassion
• God’s Response:
1. Jonah runs; God finds him.
2. Jonah is disobedient; God confronts him.
3. Jonah, act of rebellion; God, act of revival.
Jonah’s issues. . . . .
• He knows what God’s will is, but . .
“Go to the great city of Nineveh and preach. . . .”
• He knows what God sees in him, but . .
“. . .and preach…”
• He doesn’t know that you can’t run from God .
“But Jonah ran away from the presence of the Lord.”
Psalm 139:7–10
Answer this. . .
•”I had hoped that God would have stopped me from .”
Just because you move forward doesn’t mean you are in the right lane .
Proverbs 14:12
Running from God. . . .
• Always starts off good.
• God’s destiny will not tolerate your disobedience.
• God, somewhere along the path of human will, will intervene- Divine Appointments .
Appointed storm (V 4)
What you thought would bring deliverance only brings destruction .
Appointed whale . (V17)
The prayer of Jonah (Chapter 2)
“I can’t escape from God’s presence.”
1). The heart of Jonah
• Rebellion to revival
• All’s well that ends well, right??
Point:
•God didn’t use Jonah just to fix Nineveh but Nineveh to fix Jonah’s self-centerdness and compassion-less heart.
2). The anger of Jonah.
Jonah 4:1–4
• Appointed plant (V 4:6)
• Appointed worm (V 4:7)
• Appointed wind . (V 4:8)
• Jonah (V 4:9-11)
God uses all these appointed, sovereign events to break and crush a compassion-less and selfish heart .
“The broken will always be able to love harder than most.”
-Unknown
Why?
••Because “the restored knows that God is the rescuer of the brokenness. It is in our brokenness that we have compassion for others and that allowance has the ability to show Christ in us, the hope of glory.”
