God’s Will For Your Life, p.2

(The battery died in part of the sermon and had to be replaced).

The LORD will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O LORD, endures forever. Do not forsake the work of your hands.

Psalm 138:8

It all starts with God.

And our response is not to create but to follow.

1). The will of God is personal.

“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”

Jeremiah 1:5

2). The will of God is present.

For anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead and Christ will shine on you.”

Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.  Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

Ephesians 5:14-17

There is power in your now!

3). The will of God is progressive.

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

Jeremiah 29:11-13

4). The will of God is _perfect_.

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28

Confession:

1. We are _incapable_ of planning our lives, but God does.

I know, O LORD, that the way of man is not in himself, that it is not in man who walks to direct his steps.

Jeremiah 10:23

2. We don’t know the _future_, but God does.

Acts 15:18 “Known from the old”

Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare; before they spring forth I tell you of them.”

Isaiah 42:9

5). The will of God is _pleasure_.

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Hebrews 11:6

Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:4

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.

Psalm 16:11

Pleasure is the measure of your treasure.
